The Caregiver Toolkit is a guide to help new or experienced home-based caregivers to understand their role and provides information about essential support for the challenges caregivers may face.

United Way

The United Way in San Antonio provides a 211 helpline for callers to receive free assistance and referrals to health and wellness programs across the area. They also offer education assistance and programs for children and young families.

SALSA Initiative

Successful Aging and Living in San Antonio (SALSA) was created by the San Antonio Area Foundation to increase leadership, collaboration and funding to ensure older adults have access to necessary services, information and support systems.

Pass It On Center

The Pass It On Center continues to create national and state resources to foster the safe, effective and appropriate reuse of assistive technology (AT) so that people with disabilities can get the affordable AT they need in order to live, learn, work and play more independently in communities of their choice.

Mobility Works

Mobility Works provides wheelchair accessible vans and transportation as well as wheelchair lifts and ramps for vehicles.

Breathing Angels

Breathing Angels is a nonprofit organization servicing the San Antonio area and surrounding counties. They provide refurbished Adult and Pediatric respiratory equipment. Special order of other medical equipment is available upon request.

Blue Print Ministries

Blue Print ministries renovates and repairs sub-standard homes at no cost for seniors, veterans, the disabled and low income families in San Antonio.

Bexar Area Agency on Aging

Bexar Area Agency on Aging provides a variety of services to seniors in Bexar County. These include hot meals provided on-site or delivered in-home as well as benefits counseling, health referrals, caregiver assistance and care coordination.

Assisted Living for Seniors With Disabilities

Senior Homes provides an overview of common disabilities impacting seniors,
discussing the benefits of assisted living, the care provided and how to choose the
ideal facility to meet a disabled senior’s current needs.

AccessAbility Home Modifications

AccessAbility provides home safety modifications for seniors and the disabled in San Antonio. Modifications include ramps, hand rails and other medically necessary changes to the home.

101 Mobility

101 Mobility provides in-home accessibility options for seniors and the disabled. Options include stair lifts, platform lifts, ramps and bathroom modifications.

San Antonio Diaper Bank

The San Antonio Diaper Bank provides families with young children access to diapers, wipes and other practical necessities. They also provide parenting and wellness classes and workshops.

Inman Christian Center

Inman Christian Center provides child development care for infants and children up to five years old. They also provide afterschool and summer programs, emergency food, baby care supplies and health and wellness consultations.

Ella Austin Community Center

The Ella Austin Center offers child care and afterschool care for children aged 6 months to 11 years old. They also offer free parenting courses.

Any Baby Can

Any Baby Can supports children with special needs and their families. Services include prescription assistance, health and wellness programs and referrals, counseling services, parenting classes, special needs learning tools and more.

A New Life for a New Generation

A New Life for a New Generation offers practical needs such as wipes, diapers, clothing and nutrition for families with children 36 months and younger. They also offer counseling for parents and children, job training, parenting classes and car seat training.

Vehicles for Veterans

Vehicles for Veterans accepts used car donations. Funds from the sale of used cars and parts go towards services and programs to assist disabled veterans. Vehicles for Veterans benefits programs such as Operation Gratitude which provides care packages to wounded veterans and caregivers.

Charlie‘s Home for Vets

Charlie's Home for Vets helps veterans find housing arrangements that are beneficial for them, including personal care facilities, memory care facilities, and shared room rental spaces. They also provide various educational classes, support groups, and assistance to homeless veterans that are in need.

Travis United Methodist Church

Travis United Methodist Church's Corazon Ministry provides hot meals to homeless and low income individuals four days a week. They also offer clothing assistance, housing placement, hygiene supplies and showers as well as free counseling services and therapy programs.

St. Vincent De Paul

St. Vincent De Paul offers services to residents of 10 South Texas counties including Bexar County. They provide food, clothing, home supplies, rent and utility assistance as well as financial counseling, job training and home search and placement services.

St. Paul United Methodist

San Antonio Food Bank

The San Antonio Food Bank takes pride in fighting hunger, feeding hope in our 16 county service area.

SAMMinistriesTransitional Housing

Samm Ministries is an interfaith organization that seeks to help the homeless and prevent homelessness in San Antonio. They offer free temporary housing, rent and utility assistance for families and counseling and support services.

Salvation Army Hope Center

The Salvation Army Hope Center Provides emergency shelter for women, single parents with young children and intact families.

The Inner City Development Center offers an emergency food pantry for families in need. They also offer emergency clothing assistance and educational services for families with young children.

Guadalupe Community Center

One of the oldest community centers in San Antonio, Guadalupe Community Center provides food, temporary housing assistance, health services and counseling to low-income families and individuals.

Goodwill San Antonio's has championed the fight against poverty and created opportunity for adults and youth in our community through education and employment since 1945.

Ella Austin Community Center

The Ella Austin Community Center provides a broad range of social-services including clothing, food, housing and financial assistance. The Center also features programs for community members from early childhood through seniors.

Dress for Success

Dress for Success is an international non-profit that provides professional attire for low income women. They also provide job training and higher education assistance.

City of San Antonio

The City of San Antonio coordinates with organizations around the city to provide financial assistance, housing, food and a number of other services for those who qualify. Assistance is available for families, seniors, students and the homeless.

Christian Hope Resource Center

Christian Hope Resource Center is a multi-faceted service agency in San Antonio. The center offers a client-choice food pantry, on-site health programs and clothing assistance. They also offer job training, counseling services and parenting classes.

Catholic Charities

Catholic Charities is a network of Catholic non-profits across the San Antonio area. These non-profit groups provide assistance with rent and utilities, supplies including food and clothing, free and low cost counseling services and more.

Bexar County Economic & Community Development

Bexar County Economic & Community Development offers financial assistance to those who qualify for help with water, heating and natural gas bills. They also partner with local organizations to offer job and workforce training

Antioch Missionary Baptist Church

Antioch Missionary Baptist Church located on the East side of San Antonio provides a food bank as well as clothing and counseling services.

Alamo Area Council of Governments

Alamo Area Council of Governments utilizes state grants and funds to coordinate with local charities that provide social services. They facilitate the Intellectual & Developmental disabilities services for bexar county. These services provide residential housing assistance, medicare waiver assistance and more for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.
